CHAPTER  I

PRELIMINARY

A.    Background

Information technology is a set of data and information in the form of science in business or the tools used to assist and facilitate human life.

Information technology is one of the computers, we already know that the computer is a modern technology that is very special because we can determine the program that we want to do for example mikrosoft word that we use for typing and others. The computer has five components namely: HARDWERE, SOFTWERE, HEIN WERE, WERE BRAIN AND INFOWERE.

In real life there are human beings who can operate a computer and some are not, what else understands what it hadrwere or sloftwere. when computers can help humans. Usually, everyday we only use a set of PC (Personal Computer), but do not know what it meant. And of course also use the app just to use. The author never ask someone when he use PC. Apparently, they are many who do not know what the meaning of the hardware itself.

After learning about the hardware and software of course we can use the PC. Example to type a manuscript through Microsoft Office Word or Word Processing application, etc.. Personal computers can also be used to write a diary or so. Well, a virtual world is also one site bias to substitute it. Therefore, the authors feel attracted her to find a theme in this paper, which is entitled "COMPUTER HARDWARE"

DISCUSSION

A.    Definition Of Hardware

Hardware is one component of a computer that is the nature of its tools can be seen and touched directly or in the form of real, which serves to support the computerization process.

Hardware can work based on predetermined commands available to him, or what is also referred to by the term instruction set. With the commands that can be understood by the hardware, then the hardware can perform a variety of activities that have been determined by the command

B.     Kind Of Hardware

Physically, the computer consists of several components that constitute a system. System are the components that work together to form a union. If one component fails, will result in non-functioning of existing processes with a good computer. The computer components are included in the category of hardware elements (hardware). Based on the function, the computer hardware is divided into:

1.      Input device (input unit)

2.      Process device (processing units)

3.      Output device (output unit)

4.      Backing Storage (storage units)

5.      Peripherals (additional units)

The basic components of the computer consists of input, process, output and storage. Input device consisting of a keyboard and mouse, Process devices are microprocessor (ALU, Internal Communication, and Control Registers section), output device consisting of a monitor and a printer, external memory storage consists of a hard drive, floppy drive, CD ROM, magnetic tape. Storage internal memory consists of RAM and ROM. While the Peripheral Device component is an additional component or as a component that does not exist or did not exist before. The Peripheral Component example: TV Tuner Card, Modem, Capture Units Input (Input Devices)

1.                Input device

This unit serves as a medium for data entry from outside to inside a memory and a processor for processing in order to produce the required information.

Ø  Equipment direct input, the input is entered directly processed by the processing equipment. For example: keyboard, mouse, touch screen, light pen, digitizer graphics tablets, scanners.

Ø  Equipment indirect input, input via a particular media before an input is processed by the processing equipment. For example: punched cards, floppy disks, hard drives.

2.                Process device

The brain was a computer processing unit (Process device). This processing unit is called a CPU (Central Processing Unit). The function of the CPU is the processor and the data processor to generate a further necessary information. On the computer's micro-processing units called denganmicro-processor (micro processor) or in the form of processor chips are composed of thousands to millions of ICs. The main function of the CPU work with arithmetic and logic against the data contained in the memory or inserted through the insert unit like keyboards, scanners, or joystick.

3.                Output device

Computer output device is a device that is useful for generating an output such as drawing, paper (hardcopy), sound, etc.. An example of the output device is a printer, speakers, monitors, etc..

4.                Backing storage

Backing Storage also called backup storage is storing all information in a non-active in kompouter, is distinguished by serial storage acces for example tape drive and direct acces eg magnetic disk (hard drive), floppy disk (floppy), CD / DVD ROM drive and so on.

5.                Peripherals

Peripheral enhancement that is installed on a computer to further utilize kompurer. There are classed device as input devices, processor and output devices. These devices are usually shaped (Card) which must be installed on the expantion slot located on the motherboard. Some additional device that can be used such as: modem, music card, and a TV Card.

A.    Conclusions

Computer hardware is all the physical parts of the computer, which are distinguished by the data it contains or operates on, and the software that provides instructions for the hardware to complete your duties. Boundaries between hardware and software is a little blurry, firmware is software that is "built" into the hardware. This firmware is an area of computer programmers and computer engineering, and users do not need to pay attention to this section.

B.     Advice
Of this research was to convey suggestions:

1.      Hendlah As a student we always tinggkatkan quality so that in the future we are not left with what the technology its name.

2.      With this paper is expected to broaden the horizon of today's technology
